Business Owners Support Efforts to Find Cancer Cure

Published Monday, May 1, 2017

Raising funds to fight cancer is the goal behind Downtown Appleton’s annual Giving Hope Campaign, beginning Sunday, May 7, through Saturday, May 13. Participating Downtown businesses, retailers, bar owners and restaurants are all collaborating with Appleton Downtown Inc (ADI) and the American Cancer Society to raise money for Cancer Patient Support and Research.

Participating merchants and businesses have agreed to give a percentage of their sales or an outright donation to ADI’s Giving Hope Campaign, which will conclude with a special Sidewalk Celebration on Saturday, May 13 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. As part of this fundraising event, retailers will bring their merchandise outdoors, weather permitting, with special pricing just for this event.

“It’s wonderful to see so many of our Downtown businesses and retailers participating in this campaign, eager to give to a cause that touches so many lives in our community and beyond,” said Anne Wiegman, marketing director for ADI. “Whether it’s to celebrate a victory, honor someone’s memory, or support someone’s ongoing fight against cancer, we’re all working toward finding a cure. And these funds also help support real patients and their families who are in the midst of treatments and supportive care.” Participating businesses will display Giving Hope window signs and cancer ribbons so they may be easily identifiable to shoppers and patrons.

The 35 businesses participating in this year’s fundraising event are: ACOCA Coffee, Angels Forever-‐ Windows of Light, Antojitos Mexicanos, Appleton Beer Factory, Appleton Bike Shop, Appleton Street Sports Bar & Grill, Avenue Jewelers, Bad Badger Sports Bar, Bagelicious, The Bar on the Avenue, Beatnik Betty's Resale Butik*, Cleo's Brown Beam, CU Saloon, Déjà Vu Martini Lounge, Farm Market, Gabriel Furniture, Good Company, hey, daisy!*, Items of Interest*, Johnson Bank, Joseph’s Shoes*, Lillians of Appleton*, Mr. Brew’s Taphouse, Mud & Prints & Peerless Designs*, Muncheez Pizzeria, Murray Photo, Orchard Café inside Radisson Paper Valley Hotel, Paper Discovery Center, Pinot’s Palette*, Principal Financial, Shear Chaos Salon & Barbering Co., Tennie's Jewelry, Tina Marie's Unique Boutique & Sonnet's Garden Blooms*, Vagabond Imports, The Vintage Garden*, and Wooden Nickel (* indicates sidewalk sale participant).
