The seventh annual Doctors in Recital Fox Valley will be held on Saturday, April 8 at 7 p.m. at UW-Fox Valley’s Perry Hall. Presented by Heid Music and Steinway & Sons, the event showcases the talents of local physicians and area musicians to help raise funds for area charities.
“The beneficial role music can play in medicine has been acknowledged for a long time. Doctors in Recital recognizes that connection, and provides a way for us to give back to the community by helping different area non-profits raise awareness and critical funds for their organizations,” said Todd Heid, owner of Heid Music. “This year, funds will go to support another worthy cause: the Fox Valley Memory Project.”
The Fox Valley Memory Project collaborates with other organizations to offer programs and services that improve quality of life for persons with dementia, along with their family care partners and friends.
“At least 9,000 people in Outagamie County and Winnebago County may have dementia,” said Susan McFadden, one of the co-founders of Fox Valley Memory Project along with her husband John. “We need the proceeds of this event to help them live life to the fullest.”
The recital will feature the musical talents of Dr. Victoria Negrete, Dr. Phyllis Lee, Dr. Michael Panzer, Dr. Brian Hong, Dr. Cindy Leigh, Dr. Dilip Tannen, Dr. Bruce Danz, Dr. Susan Szabo, Chris Danz NP, Dr. Kurt Dietrich, Dr. Yogesh Pareek, Katie Scullin, John Harmon, and Margaret Burton. Steve March-Torme will also perform and serve as musical director and emcee for the event.
“It’s incredible to see what these people can do when they aren’t using a scalpel on somebody,” said March-Torme. “They can actually play and sing music really well.”
A reception from 6-7 p.m. will proceed the show. Tickets for both the reception and recital are $25, and can be purchased at Heid Music Appleton or online at foxvalleymemoryproject.org.
