Area employers are continuously looking to empower their workforce with skills that align to global markets and changing technologies. There to serve those evolving needs is the state’s leader in workplace training—the Business & Industry Services (BIS) team at Fox Valley Technical College.
Housed in the college’s D.J. Bordini Center in Appleton, BIS at FVTC trains more than 21,600 individuals a year on behalf of more than 2,200 employers. Although many of the incumbent workforce training programs are done on-site at regional companies, the hub of FVTV’s business training enterprise is located in the newly-remodeled Bordini Center. On March 9, college officials welcomed its workplace training partners and the public to celebrate the grand re-opening of the facility.
More than 300 guests toured the center’s new spaces, which is also home to the college’s Venture Center for entrepreneur training, a Fab Lab for creative types and STEM programs, and a printing technologies lab. The lab conducts print trials and testing for businesses nationwide, including Fortune 500 ® companies. The Bordini remodel was designed to help businesses address skills gaps in technology, leadership development, advanced manufacturing, and small business growth, among others.
“Many companies look to us to help meet their workshop or seminar space needs with the support of the latest technology,” says Dale walker, director of BIS at FVTC. “We’re known for providing customized workplace plans anywhere they’re needed, and now our renovated center can better assist a wide range of professionals with state-of-the-art meeting space provisions.”
The enhanced space at Bordini includes a conference room that accommodates more than 400 people, nine SMART classrooms with IDEA paint, on-site hospitality services, dual presentation screens and infinite controlled lighting systems in each meeting space, and more. “We have everything your business needs to conduct a dynamic training experience,” adds Walker.
The Bordini Center opened in 1986, and today is a proud host site of 1 Million Cups for the City of Appleton—a weekly networking event for aspiring entrepreneurs and small business owners. For more information on the center and its offerings, visit www.fvtc.edu/BIS.
