Wisconsin’s oldest, continuously operating brewpub with a long history of producing high quality handcrafted beers and serving locally sourced foods has changed its name to align its brand with its beverage offerings.
Stone Cellar Brewpub will now be known as Stone Arch Brewpub. Previously, the business was known as Stone Cellar Brewpub, and its beers were labeled Stone Arch Handcrafted Beers. The new name brings both together in one unified brand.
“We’ve been aiming to make our name and our beverage lines more consistent and more easily recognizable,” says Steve Lonsway, who co-owns the business along with his father, Tom. “This should eliminate any confusion between the two and give us a stronger identity. ‘Stone Arch’ identifies with our historic building and provides a sort of ‘over-arching’ identity for all our food and beverage offerings.
“The word Brewpub lets people know that while we produce quality beers, we also offer a broad selection of artisan dishes using sustainable and healthy ingredients from local producers that enables us to provide a complete beverage and dining experience.”
Since 2004, the father-and-son partners have been offering the Fox Valley hand-crafted fresh and natural beer and quality cuisine at the brewpub. Located in the historic Between-the-Locks building, Stone Arch Brewpub features a restaurant, pub, brewery, tap room and beer garden. Stone Arch’s menu features appetizers, salads, sandwiches, burgers, items they deem “pub favorites,” seafood and its renowned pizza. Stone Arch also brews its own gourmet sodas using natural cane sugar instead of artificial sweeteners.
In 2012, when the owners decided to sell their beer commercially, they were forced to change the original Stone Cellar Brewery name to Stone Arch Brew House as the “Stone Cellar” trademark was already reserved. That same year, the brewery was nearly doubled in size, and the company began producing bottled beer for sale through other bars, restaurants and stores, which now total more than 100 outlets.
The Lonsways also operate an off-site events facility at Riverview Gardens, which will now be known as Stone Arch at Riverview Gardens. Located just one block from the Stone Arch Brewpub and overlooking the Fox River, this event space allows Stone Arch to serve groups of up to 200 people. Stone Arch at Riverview Gardens is open to the public every Wednesday evening and features live music.
