APPLETON DOWNTOWN INC. AIMS TO NIX CABIN FEVER WITH VACATION DESTINATION EVENT

PASSPORTS LEAD THE WAY TO ACTIVITIES, SPECIAL OFFERS, PRIZES

Published Wednesday, January 4, 2017

Appleton Downtown Inc. is offering a sure-fire cure for cabin fever with its Vacation Destination event on Saturday, January 28.

The day-long event will take visitors on a tour of getaway destinations, both international and stateside, as Downtown merchants and businesses deck out their venues around a travel theme and offer a host of activities, refreshments, specials and giveaways. Sponsoring the event are presenting sponsor Fox Communities Credit Union, and Tundraland, the 2016 Downtown Star Supporter.

Participating businesses will offer “passports” for $5 each. Patrons will receive a stamp for each purchase, and a completed passport may be entered in a drawing for special prizes.

Passports are already on sale at participating merchants and will be available while supplies last.

“Last year we collected more than 500 passports, and ‘travelers’ told us they had a great time getting into vacation mode and checking out all the fabulous prizes and special offers,” says Anne Wiegman, marketing director for Appleton Downtown Inc. (ADI). “We have more businesses participating this year and more prizes, so we think people will really have fun and can take advantage of some real savings.”

This year’s prize lineup includes an overnight stay at the CopperLeaf Boutique Hotel & Spa; a pair of tickets to Cabaret at the Fox Cities Performing Arts Center; appetizers and drinks before the show at Bazil’s Pub and Provisions, and $100 in Downtown Appleton gift certificates. The Grand Prize is two Mile of Music Music-Makers Badges, four Bike to the Beat registrations, a hotel stay and a gift certificate for dinner courtesy of Fox Communities Credit Union.

A list of participating merchants and their special offers and activities as well as information on all ADI events may be found on the ADI website, www.appletondowntown.org and click on Events.
