School Software Group Forms Business Partnership with AESA to Provide Curriculum Value to Educational Service Agencies

School Software Group has teamed up with the Association of Educational Service Agencies (AESA) to bring BuildYourOwnCurriculum (BYOC)—a world-class curriculum development framework—to AESA’s members and districts.

AESA is the national professional organization serving over 550 educational service agencies (ESAs) in 45 states. AESA reaches the majority of public school districts, private schools, certified teachers, non-certified school employees, and public and private school students.

“BuildYourOwnCurriculum (BYOC) was a natural fit with our instructional services because it brings value to documenting curriculum by making curriculum valuable to teachers,” says Dr. Joan Wade, former executive director at CESA 6 in Wisconsin and current executive director at AESA. “As we collaborated with curriculum teams to develop, document and monitor a comprehensive, aligned curriculum, BYOC helped ensure the process was systematic.”

BYOC enables districts to bring the teaching—and learning—experience into an evolving documented process that is easy to use, accessible anywhere, and aligned district-wide. By simply entering curriculum once, then continuously assessing and improving, educators can save time on curriculum management, enter a process of continuous improvement, and shift focus to their true passion—teaching. It also provides access for parents and students to view assignments, participate in discussion groups, and view announcements and events.

Partnering with the national association makes sense as School Software Group and BYOC already partners with 14 individual ESAs across the country. These partnerships help ESA’s work with districts to develop and implement local standards-based curricula, assessments and instruction and build a systematic process for sustaining, revising and improving curriculum for their districts.

Sharon Waite, executive director at Show-Me Curriculum Administrator’s Association in Missouri, shares insight on their partnership with BYOC. “Using BYOC, teachers are able to design curriculum that defines the learning progressions necessary to attain the level of classroom rigor and relevance students must engage in if they are to graduate from high school, college—and career-ready,” says Waite.
