Give a Pint, Give a Pound This Thanksgiving

Double Your Impact and Give Back with The Community Blood Center and St. Joseph Food Program

The Community Blood Center and St. Joseph Food Program are partnering this Thanksgiving season to offer donors the opportunity to double their impact by giving back to those in need in more ways than one. From November 14-30, for every pint of blood collected by The Community Blood Center, the equivalent of one pound of food will be donated to St. Joseph Food Program in the Fox Valley.

“St. Joseph Food Program is thrilled to partner with The Community Blood Center for this Thanksgiving Holiday promotion,” said St. Joseph Food Program Director of Marketing and Development Karen Ziemke. “Our organizations provide the most basic life-giving gifts and we rely on our generous community to donate.”

Blood donations during holidays like Thanksgiving help The Community Blood Center maintain an adequate supply of blood for hospitals to treat patients in need. “We recognize that everyone is busy, especially around the holidays,” said The Community Blood Center Vice President of Donor Services Kris Belanger. “This partnership allows a convenient opportunity for donors to make a difference in more ways than one through the simple act of blood donation.”

To schedule a blood donation, please call (800) 280-4102 or visit www.communityblood.org and click “Donate Blood”.

All donors must meet specific eligibility criteria outlined by the FDA, accrediting organizations (such as AABB) and individual donation centers. To donate in Wisconsin, individuals must be at least 17 years old (16 with parental consent), in general good health and must meet weight and hemoglobin level requirements on donation day. Donors are encouraged to eat a regular meal, drink plenty of water prior to donation, and present a photo ID upon donation.

St. Joseph Food Program, Inc. is Northeast Wisconsin’s non-profit leader in providing nutritional food at no cost to qualified individuals who are in need of food assistance. As a private 501 (c)(3), we do not receive any government funding but rely on the generosity of this great community for monetary and food donations. Through partnerships and collaborations, St. Joseph Food Program now touches over 5,000 individuals each week who are in need of food assistance in the Fox Valley region. A yearly volunteer base of over 400 caring individuals provides the areas only face-to-face assistance and translates into the preservation of dignity among clients.
