The Fox Cities Convention & Visitors Bureau has awarded a Tourism Development grant in the amount of $15,000 to the Hearthstone Historic House Museum.
“Awarding this grant to the Hearthstone Historic House Museum will enable them to better reach possible visitors by having an upgraded sign which features an electronic message center,” commented Chris Haese, chair of the Bureau’s Tourism Development Grants Committee.
The new sign is visible to traffic traveling in both directions on Memorial Drive and from Prospect Avenue. The electronic message center displays the hours of operation, as well as any current and upcoming exhibits.
Hearthstone Historic House Museum is a signature attraction for visitors to the Fox Cities and is unique to our area as it was the first house in the world to use electric lighting based on the Edison system and powered by its own hydroelectricity. With more than 60% of visitors to Hearthstone coming from outside the Fox Cities, the new sign will create more visual awareness for visitors as they drive past and technologically supports the Hearthstone’s brand of “illuminating history, culture and innovation”.
Since its inception in 1986, the Bureau has given more than $7 million in grants through its Tourism Development program. Grants have ranged between $2,500 and $1,000,000.
