Leadership Fox Cities program celebrates 25 years of professional development and community building

Published Tuesday, June 14, 2016

Leadership Fox Cities, a community-based leadership program designed to help individuals grow as leaders and engage in their community, is celebrating their 25th year with over 900 graduates completing the program and nearly 150 community-driven projects completed.

“Each year Leadership Fox Cities welcomes about forty committed participants that gather monthly to learn about our accolades as a community and the challenges we are facing,” shares Joy Kapheim, director of Leadership Fox Cities. Each monthly gathering focuses on a different community segment ranging from human services to arts and the economy. “Participants are immersed in a full-day traveling class that includes guest speakers, hands-on experiences, tours and relationship building. The goal of each class day is to challenge thinking and inspire participants to get involved in their community,” adds Kapheim.

At the start of this nine month-long program, participants are placed into small groups and are charged with the task of identifying an issue or program that needs attention. These groups then plan and execute sustainable community projects.

On June 23rd, Leadership Fox Cities will celebrate their 25th anniversary with alumni at Waverly Beach in Menasha. Prior-to and during the celebration, donations will be collected for a scholarship to make this dynamic program more affordable to small non-profits and businesses in the area.
