On Wednesday, June 15th, Mid-Day Women’s Alliance welcomes Ms. Astar Herndon, Lead Organizer of 9to5 Wisconsin, as our program speaker. 9to5 Wisconsin is our state’s chapter of one of the largest and most respected organizations in the US representing the interests of working women. The organization believes in “winning justice for working women” and has excellent resources to assist in women’s career growth including a Leadership Certification program. Ms. Herndon will speak on the topic of fair treatment of women in the workplace and will address key issues around gender equity.
Astar believes in using creativity and passion to empower communities for change. She has devoted her career to advocating for women and families. Prior to serving as the Lead Organizer at 9to5, she contributed to Illinois Action for Children, and Chicago Legal Advocacy for Incarcerated Mothers. In those capacities, she led various policy campaigns aimed at improving the lives of communities of color. She uses her skills and talents toward the mission of creating equality and unity.
