City Cafe, located inside Appleton’s City Center, is partnering with Homeless Connections during the first annual City Cafe Cares Week. During the week of May 16 – 20, City Cafe will donate 30 percent of all purchases to Homeless Connections and is donating free meals to clients of Homeless Connections.
“As refugees from Thailand, my family struggled with homelessness and poverty when we relocated to Appleton in 1990,” said City Cafe Owner Yee Lee, “Even as we struggled, my family had goals and dreams that motivated us. By giving back to my community, I want to support the goals and dreams of those who are struggling.”
The promotion will run during normal business hours, 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. In addition to donating 30% of their profits, City Cafe will also be collecting donations for Homeless Connections during the week. City Cafe hopes to make this an annual event to raise awareness and donations for Homeless Connections.
“Our clients often don’t have the luxury of ordering a meal in a restaurant;” said Community Relations Director Jennifer Dieter, “Yee and the staff at City Cafe have been incredibly thoughtful in not only raising money for Homeless Connections but also generously donating meals to individuals and families who cannot afford to eat out.”
