Career Expo Engages Students with an Interactive Approach to Future Career Opportunities

Published Monday, April 11, 2016

The Talent Collaborative, a division of the Fox Cities Chamber, is hosting its 10th Annual 8th Grade Career Expo on Monday, April 18, 2016. The Career Expo provides approximately 2,600 local students with an experiential trade show-like event for them to explore the variety of careers available in the Fox Cities and beyond.

Fifty Fox Cities businesses will interact with 8th grade students in attendance at Lake Park Sportzone in Menasha, showcasing their businesses and exposing students to potential career opportunities and pathways.

The event continues to provide students with engaging, meaningful interaction among business professionals in the Fox Cities community. Students will visit four career zones, each zone encompassing 12 to 14 businesses, during their visit to the Career Expo. Industry representatives will provide an interactive activity or display and answer students’ questions. The career zones combine similar career clusters based on knowledge and skills needed to succeed in a particular area. Career zones for this year’s Expo include: STEM/Manufacturing/Agriculture, Arts/Communication/Information Technology/Business, Health/Human Services and Architecture/Construction/Transportation.

This one-day Career Expo is integrated into the schools’ curriculums and will give students a better idea when it comes to selecting appropriate future courses as they transition into high school. Patty Milka, Vice President of Talent and Education at the Fox Cities Chamber, noted the impact of the 8th Grade Career Expo on 8th graders, “Students get a glimpse into their future as they transition into high school, while learning about the steps needed to reach their goals.”

MEDIA ARE ENCOURAGED TO ATTEND. For additional information on the Career Expo, please visit:
