The Appleton Housing Authority (AHA) has hired Kris Murphy as its new Service Coordinator for its Oneida Heights Apartment Complex. Murphy takes over the position from Pam Wampole, PHN, RN, who retired last month after 14 years of service.
In her new role, Murphy will serve as the on-site resource person who helps connect Oneida Heights’ 153 low-income residents to the following: transportation services; affordable dental, audiology and eye care; medical and mental health providers; Medicare programs and assistance with premiums and service charges; Aging and Disability services; Social Security assistance; community health and wellness programs; social activities; computer and technology learning opportunities; in-home care options and housekeeping support; long-term care planning, financial and legal support; and assistance with benefits applications.
A well-rounded service professional and community advocate, Murphy brings more than 15 years of experience in the medical field and administrative expertise to the position. Her education includes designations as a Registered Polysomnographer (RPSGT) and as a Certified Recovery Coach (CRC). Murphy is also president of the nonprofit group Wisconsin United We C.A.N., and serves on the board of directors of the AHA’s nonprofit companion organization, Neighborhood Housing, Inc. (NHI).
The AHA is the largest provider of affordable housing options in the Appleton area, serving more than 900 families per month. The agency has operated rental housing, homeownership and family self-sufficiency programs along with other key housing-related programs in the Appleton community for over 49 years.
The AHA’s non-profit NHI organization is committed to affordable housing and the self-sufficiency of families, veterans, elderly and disabled individuals in the Fox Cities. Its successful partnership with the Appleton Area School District (AASD), annually brings students from Appleton East, North and West High Schools together to build a new, affordable home or duplex for area families in need of an affordable residence.
