  • 5 million hours of service
  • $3.4 billion of service contributed
  • 2% of residents donate $25 or more to charity

A recent Volunteer Center event, VolunteerFEST, invited local community members to visit with representatives from over 40 nonprofit organizations. Nearly 200 community members attended, making the event one of the largest community-wide volunteer fairs in our area. It is events like these that help our community members realize how easy and enjoyable it is to volunteer, and helps put us near the top of the rankings for volunteerism each year.

“The Volunteer Center will be celebrating our 20th anniversary as a nonprofit in 2016,” said Julia Drobeck, Executive Director. “This report confirms that our Fox Valley community and in the state of Wisconsin we do help our neighbors in need.” The number one reason why people do not volunteer remains, ‘no one asked me.’ The Volunteer Center promotes the needs of local nonprofits and organizations that need those volunteers on a daily basis. The Volunteer Center also sponsors RSVP (Retired and Senior Volunteer Program), which is part of Senior Corp through the Corporation for National and Community Service.

The Volunteer Center makes volunteerism easy for our community members, providing many publications and outlets for people to find volunteer opportunities year-round. Currently, the yearly Holiday Guide (Go to http://www.volunteercenter.net/, click on Holiday Guide) can help community members find many opportunities just specific to the holiday season, complete with contact information and wish-lists for the nonprofit organizations. Community members can also visit Get Connected (http://getconnected.volunteercenter.net/), the online tool for finding local volunteer opportunities specific to your interests and time.
