In alignment with its sustainability mission, Evergreen Credit Union (ECU), one of the most environmentally responsible credit unions in the state, installed a solar array at its Town of Menasha location.

[endif]The solar array will produce enough electricity to satisfy 80 percent of the credit union's annual demand. Eland Electric installed the 198 SolarWorld panels that make up the array.

Mike Brandt, president of ECU, said the solar array helps to support the credit union's sustainability mission.

"Installing this solar array is a major step in our mission to be the most environmentally responsible credit union in the nation," Brandt said. "Combining the output of this system with our continued participation in the WE Energies Energy for Tomorrow program means that our electricity consumption will be virtually carbon free."

Brandt said current and future members can feel good about reducing their environmental impact by banking with ECU.

The solar array is only one success in ECU's list of environmental achievements. The credit union is already a zero waste facility under the Environmental Protection Agency's guidelines. Prior to the solar array installation, its facility had already attained ENERGY STAR certification for 2015. ECU also donates money to plant trees in national forests and parks for every new member or approved loan. ECU also collects rain water in barrels to water landscaping.

ECU provides financial services with an environmentally focused mission to people living or working in Winnebago, Outagamie, Waushara and Waupaca counties.
