The timeline for the new healthcare legislation, passed by Congress and signed into law last month, sees some reforms go into effect soon but most in 2014 or later. The various government agencies, particularly the Department of Health and Human Services and Internal Revenue Service, will be working over the next several years on drafting the regulations necessary to implement the new laws, and it will be through this process that the Chamber will work to change and improve the regulations to help businesses.
While repeal is unrealistic, we hope to improve policy through the regulatory, legislative, legal and political processes, and we'll be looking to you for your continued support and help in educating our elected officials and others about the impact this legislation will have on business and the economy.
In regards to the timing of these provisions as well as effects this legislation will have on businesses, we've attached two U.S. Chamber of Commerce documents you might find helpful. First, is the Health Care Implementation Timeline, and second is the Aftermath: New Realities for Businesses in the Wake of the Health Care Law.
