Recruiting

The Chamber has long led local efforts to ensure the availability of qualified, skilled workers for area firms.  Major regional Economic Development initiatives also include workforce components, as the region works to attract highly skilled and educated workers, particularly but not exclusively in high-tech industries.

Partnering with member firms, the Chamber offers local firms the ability to post available positions free of charge on one of the nation's leading job networks, NationJob. Through the generous support of SECURA Insurance Companies, Community First Credit Union, M&I Bank, Jewelers Mutual, Modern Business Machines, Air Wisconsin Airline Corporation, Office Technology, Appleton Area School District, Affinity Health System, Plexus Corp., Outlook Group Corp.,Boldt Company, and Thrivent Financial for Lutherans, local companies may post their job openings on NationJob.

Job seekers also may subscribe to the NationJob PJ Scout service, which will alert them to available positions in categories of their choice.

The Chamber also assists local firms by providing high quality, low cost materials to help them attract workers. Newest among these resources is "The Fox Cities of Wisconsin," a 32-page, full color book that tells the stories of local residents who choose to live and work here.

These efforts have centered on several levels: high school and post-secondary programs coordinated by the Fox Cities Alliance for Education, a division of the Chamber; career exploration for students ages 12 to 21 provided through the Career Connection; professional development opportunities for educators by participating in the Christa McAuliffe Academy for Math, Science and Technology; and Global Fox Cities, Diversity Training for the 21st Century, helping ensure welcoming, inclusive work environments for all workers in the Fox Cities area.
